Portsch Physiotherapy Center – Practice with Soul
Spring is an excellent opportunity to promote well-being and nurture both physical and mental health. This noble idea guides the International Art Gallery “Elite Patronage”, founded by Dagmara Nawratek, which, as part of her original project “Art Without Barriers for Torgau”, has brought Dr. René Kanzler’s captivating photographs from the virtual exhibition “Butterflies of Saxony” into the real interior of the Portsch Physiotherapy Center.

The Portsch Physiotherapy Center in Torgau presents a selection of photos by Dr. René Kanzler from the virtual exhibition “Butterflies of Saxony,” currently on display at the International Art Gallery “Elite Patronage”. On the walls of the patient waiting room hang fascinating photographs depicting enchanting, vibrantly colored images of delicate butterflies, captured within the subtle atmosphere of nature’s mysterious beauty.
“After several years of searching, observing, and photographing regional butterflies, I’m proud to present a selection of them in the waiting room of Portsch Physiotherapy Center. Patients can see pictures of my beloved swallowtail, as well as various kinds of gossamer-winged butterflies and burnet moths. I took the pictures in the fields and forests in and around Torgau” – says with passion Dr. René Kanzler, philosopher, graduate of the University of Bamberg, artist, writer, poet and publicist.

The project “Art Without Barriers for Torgau” aims not only to create a relaxing and uplifting patient-friendly space providing people with positive motivation during the rehabilitation process, but also to encourage them to spend time in nature. The organizers hope that these fascinating photographs taken in dreamlike landscapes of beautiful Saxony will inspire patients to exercise in picturesque surroundings and relax in nature.
“Exercising outdoors is recommended for a healthy lifestyle. It also has a positive effect on our mental health. Exercising in the fresh air boosts our well-being and physical condition and strengthens the immune system. These are ideal conditions for the rehabilitation process. And a positive attitude further promotes the recovery process” – comments Britta Portsch, the director of the Physiotherapy Center in Torgau.

Britta Portsch was honored with the “Practice with Soul” award for patient-friendly activities, the promotion of digital, accessible art, and motivation to physical and mental well-being. The award was presented by the International Art Gallery “Elite Patronage”, and the event’s media patron was the “Masterclass. Business & Art” magazine. The exhibition was well received by people struggling with pain following injuries, regaining their mobility, currently undergoing rehabilitation, and receiving treatment at a physiotherapy practice.
“These photos inspire me to get back out into nature and observe the world around me. It’s so relaxing to watch butterflies. The photos can certainly help shorten waiting times for patients by allowing their minds to wander to nature. Pictures lift your spirits and evoke positive feelings. Mentally, they bring a sense of calm. I think photos have a very positive impact on rehabilitation and the course of treatment” – confesses Renate from Torgau, who currently undergoing rehabilitation and is thrilled by the idea of an exhibition organized at the physiotherapy center. After a moment of reflection, she adds: “I would like to see a similar exhibition set up in my dentist’s waiting room. Patients there tend to be very tense. Nature photos can have a calming effect and help distract them from the stress associated with a visit to the dentist.”
The exhibition, organized by the International Art Gallery “Elite Patronage” demonstrates the profound impact that engaging with art has on our mental well-being, stimulating the brain, improving mood and reducing stress. Displaying inspiring photographs of charming and fragile butterflies on the practice’s walls is not only an aesthetic decorative element, but also a way to bring nature indoors, which helps relieve tension, and promotes relaxation.
“Emotions are a fundamental part of our perception, as exemplified by the process of interaction between the artwork and the viewer. Photography that celebrates life and affirms nature evokes a certain kind of aesthetic experience, integrating sensory perceptions with the subjective sphere of inner feelings. It is worth noting that not only the creation of art, but also its appreciation, constitutes a form of art therapy, fostering self-reflection and encouraging a dialogue with one’s own emotions. Scientific research shows that viewing works of art depicting landscapes and nature helps reduce stress levels. Both photography therapy and visual reflection can be extremely beneficial for our mental health. Furthermore, eco-therapy – based on the principles of biophilia and often utilizing mindfulness techniques – engages patients and invites them to take active participation, encouraging direct contact with nature by building a relationship with it”, summarizes Dagmara Nawratek, philologist and social communication specialist, CEO and founder of the International Art Gallery “Elite Patronage” and the “Masterclass. Business & Art” magazine.

The goal of the project is not only to highlight the connection between physical and mental health, but also to promote equal access to culture and to enable people with physical disabilities to actively participate in cultural life, thereby supporting their socialization and integration thanks to the sense of belonging to the community of art lovers. People with limited mobility due to surgery, disability, or illness are invited to take a virtual tour, during which they will be able to view the entire photo collection of this astonishing exhibition. Digitizing artistic resources helps build social connections and reduces feelings of isolation by enabling active participation in cultural life and eliminating social, transport, and architectural barriers. Furthermore, a virtual art gallery brings together art lovers from all over the world, removing geographical barriers and spatial limitations. This is evident from the comments left by visitors about the virtual exhibition room on our social media.
“Change is the only constant in the world. Everything flows. And so does the stream that takes shape on my screen in beautiful butterfly images” – says Lienus from Augsburg.

The positive reception of the exhibition “Butterflies of Saxony” and the “Art Without Barriers for Torgau” project is the proof that contact with nature – even in visual form – is beneficial to our well-being, supports motivation for a good change, helps us achieve inner balance, and fosters self-reflection. René Kanzler’s exhibition of stunning photographs undoubtedly brings an atmosphere of harmony to the interior of the physiotherapy center, creating an oasis of calmness for patients where they can take a rest and find a moment of respite and relief. We warmly invite all our readers, regardless of their geographical location, to visit the exhibition in the virtual space of the International Art Gallery “Elite Patronage” and join us on a shared journey, believing that participating in culture together will help us build new bonds and foster social interaction, creating an excellent society of art lovers.
